Yesterday afternoon a short-range Qassam rockets fired from Gaza fell onto the Sapir College in Sderot and killed a student while it hit his car. More than 35 rockets stroke the Israeli city of Sderot yesterday and injured many civilians. The Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas' military wing, claimed responsibility for these attacks. EFI is particularly concerned by the constant fire the population of Sderot has to suffer and would like to stress its support to the inhabitants of the city. Since Hamas took control of Gaza strip last june, the number of rockets has significantly increased. Since the beginning of the year more than 800 rockets that fell onto the Israeli city. Israel has decided to withdraw from this area in order to step forward and to respect its commitment to the peace process. Despite this very difficult situation the population of Sderot is facing, Israel keeps facilitating humanitarian aid to the inhabitants of Gaza and still is willing to reach a final agreement with the Palestinian Autorithy. To wish at this moment that such an event won't occur again seems as wishful thinking due to the daily constant attacks on Sderot. A fact which undoubtedly jeopardizes the efforts recently launched by both sides to renew the peace process.
