In recent weeks, we have witnessed with growing concern the escalation in violence between Israelis and Palestinians. Our hopes for peace following the conference in Annapolis are disappearing under the rubbles of Gaza, Ashkelon or Sderot. The terrorist attack, which left eight students dead and many injured in Jerusalem's religious school, has even further cast away any perspective for a peaceful solution to the conflict. Yesterday's crime calls for a strong condemnation by the international community, which should unite in a protest against killing of innocent civilians. Even the highest goal does not excuse murder as a mean to achieve it. International community must exert pressure on both parties of the conflict to refrain from violence, especially on those terrorist organizations, who - operating from Gaza - try to undermine the Israeli-Palestinian peace efforts. I extend my sincere condolences to the families of the victims of the recent attack in Jerusalem. |
