Yom Yerushalaim – Jerusalem Day – celebrates the unification of Jerusalem in 1967 that granted the right for followers of every religious denomination to worship at their respective Jerusalem shrines after having witnessed the access and other religious rights muted in the past. Jerusalem stands as an inspiration not only to Israelis and the Jewish People but to the entire world.  Hence, the celebration of Yom Yerushalaim is more than a celebration of the unification of Jerusalem and the capital of Israel, it is a celebration of all that democracy holds important and sacred.

On this very special occasion, MEPs Nickolay Mladenov and Hannu Takkula on behalf of EFI and the European Jewish Community Center in Brussels (EJCC) are proud to welcome Mr. Reuven Rivlin, former Speaker of the Knesset and current Member of the Israeli Parliament at the European Parliament on Thursday June 5, 2008 for an art exhibition “Jerusalem in colours” of the Israeli artist Ruth Elbahar as well as for a wine tasting from the finest selection of Jerusalem and Israeli wines.
