Witnessing grief in silence at Auschwitz is the tragic privilege of the 21st century in memory of the greatest tragedy of the 20th century. Whoever pays his respects at Auschwitz is trying in vane to pay back something unpayable.
This is to say that joining the respectful crowd at Auschwitz is something deeply human and immensely difficult.I tried to do it again this January and I was greatly helped by the ever resourceful and inspired EFI.
Without their commitment and silent resilience the ceremonies at Auschwitz would be just ceremonies.EFI deserves our gratitude for bringing a deep human meaning at the very place where humanity itself was annihilated.
